koi mil gya

Scientist Sanjay Mehra (Rakesh Roshan) manages to contact life on another planet through a computer program.  When he goes to tell this to the scientific community, he is not believed and despised.  On his way back he sees a spaceship, due to which his attention is lost and his vehicle crashes.  He dies and his pregnant wife Sonia (Rekha) suffers injuries.  Her son Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) is born mentally disabled.  He grows up physically but his mind remains like a child.  Children many years younger than him are his friends.

 A young woman named Nisha (Preity Zinta) comes to their town.  In the beginning she is hostile towards Rohit as he made many jokes with him.  This causes his partner, Raj (Rajat Bedi) and his friends to constantly harass Rohit.  Later, Nisha sympathizes with Rohit when she learns about his mental disability from his mother.  She invites Rohit to her house and introduces him to her parents.  He also sympathizes with Rohit.  Rohit and Nisha playfully tamper with Sanjay Mehra's computer program and inadvertently call the creatures back.  The oncoming aliens leave in a hurry and accidentally leave one behind.  Rohit, Nisha and Rohit's friend find it and they name it 'Jadu'.  The magic boosts Rohit's mind power by using his special powers derived from sunlight.  This makes him very intelligent, powerful and good at everything.

 Nisha and Rohit spend more time together and Nisha starts romanticizing Rohit.  Later Rohit professes love to her and she accepts.  The presence of magic is kept a secret from everyone except Rohit, Nisha, Rohit's friends and Rohit's mother.  Later on, Raj and his friend Rohit attack on seeing him alone one day.  The magic that was in his bag falls in him, which is noticed by Havaldar Chellaram (Johnny Lever).  Then the police are behind Rohit because they want that creature for scientific research.  Rohit retrieves their spaceship and captures Jadoo before the police jettison him and pass him on to his companions.  Rohit loses the physical and mental powers bestowed by him and reverts to his less intelligent form.  By which he escapes from punishment by the Indian government.  After everything is over, Raj and his friends return to trouble Rohit.  There magic returns Rohit's powers permanently.  Rohit and Nisha thank the magic and lead a peaceful life after that.
